What would a summer in Iowa be without corn.
Fresh, in the field, sweet corn.
Kevin and I braved the 100+ degrees and went and picked corn to give to the food bank.
It was a rewarding, hot experience.

I used to be a stay up until the wee hours of the morning and sleep in until the early afternoon kind of girl. I would finish a book during the quiet of the night.
But now, I set my alarm early so I can sit around and enjoy my coffee and play on my phone, or read a little before I have to start my day.
Right now I have my windows open to get an early morning breeze and some fresh air coming into the house before the heat of the day gets here. ( oh my goodness, I am my mother's daughter! )
As I sit on the couch looking out the front window, I feel so blessed! The hills and the trees are lush and green, and the clouds are beautiful!
I can hear the birds chirping and the frogs croaking down by the creek. What a wonderful, almost loud, greeting they make.
Thank you God for helping me enjoy my mornings!

There is so much hope when planting a garden. Hopes for an abundance of vegetables - enough to make spaghetti sauce and enough to freeze. Enough to make you almost tired of cucumber salad and salsa. Almost.

I can't believe we've lived in this house for 3 years.
How time flies!
I remember my mom telling me how quickly the years pass as one grows older.
How right she was!
Since my last post, we've enjoyed so much family time!
*We got to see the kids and my mom at Thanksgiving.
*the Watts Family Christmas was so much fun with 43 of us in attendance.
*the kids got to come visit after Christmas and we had a great time despite the brief time together.
Now, we are all back to work
a new year - a fresh calendar hanging in the pantry.
A few pictures from the last weeks of 2015...
