Wow! November 8th.
This is the first weekend in 6 weeks, six weeks I tell you, that we've been home!
We washed windows, vacuumed, dusted, mopped, did yard work, went to church, cooked, shopped, and even got the Christmas lights on the roof!
Whew, we are tired!
The past few months have flown by! And here are a few pictures...

Live is good, and we have enjoyed being with family and keeping busy! Now with the cooler weather and shorter days, we plan on being home a little more and getting things done around the house.

Happy November!

School Days

School begins on Monday, I headed back this week trying to help get things in order in the library.
I went and purchased a couple new capri pants and a shirt or two. I got some index card dividers and some new sharpies.

I'm ready.

Gone are the days of new back packs, shiney new pencils, Lisa Frank, Hello Kitty, and Looney Tunes.

I miss those days sometimes.

How Inconvenient!

We've  got more than 30 people coming to our house this weekend. Seven of them are staying the weekend.

I was planning on making enchiladas, burritos, and all the fixings.

How things change. All because of a quick turn of the cart and my finger getting stuck.

Now a taco bar, with help from the guests. I can't use my right hand.

My RIGHT hand!

It's amazing how hard it is having just a little broken finger.

And painful, wow!

Oh well, time to take it easy for awhile.

The End of July

It's gone, the month of July.
I finished several projects that I've wanted to accomplish this summer and feel great about it!
We've had lots of extended family time
And am so glad we finally live close to family.

We had a hailstorm.

My garden is producing tons (28 so far) of cucumbers!

We went to the zoo.

I put trim around the huge mirror.

Took lots of walks. I love Iowa!

Put up LOTS of corn.

Played with Frank!

Found a tiny frog in my garden.

More cucumbers, and squash.

Cleaned and organized the garage.

Went to the racetrack.

Went shopping with my cousin!

Goodbye July, what a great month you were!

The road trip is over, it's been 9 days since we left home.
We had a great time visiting all the exciting places! (Read the previous 8 posts about our southern expedition.)
Now, it's great to be home!
My garden grew by leaps and bounds and
Frank is happy to be home. He's sleeping on my feet as I write this! (Thank you Kimmie!)

Day 8...
Gone are the pine trees and kudzu.
Rock walls next, soon there will be corn.
St. Louis here we come.
(Heat advisory 105 heat index)
Whew, it was warm waking around the botanical gardens! But it was so beautiful and interesting we didn't even cut it short like we thought we might.

Tomorrow we will be in our own homes again! What a wonderful road trip we have had!

Day 7...
Heading north!
It was 87 and humid in New Orleans when we left at 8am.
A quick detour to the University of Southern Mississippi, Kevin's alma mater, for a walk around campus and a shopping trip at the bookstore.
Six and a half hours north, we stopped in Memphis. It was 100 and not as humid as New Orleans, but it was HOT, HOT, HOT!
A quick photo op at Graceland and then
Memphis BBQ for dinner. It was very good!
