The End of Summer

Allison and I are back to work, I found a position with the local school district. I'm so happy I found something! It's nothing like my library position, but it's a job and I like it a lot! I am working one on one with a special needs kindergarten girl. She is such a sweet girl, and so easy to work with.

We are having a heatwave this week with temperatures into the high 90's and heat indexes into the triple digits! Poor Allison, her school doesn't have AC, but at least she is getting dismissed around 1:00 each day.
She is really beginning to like teaching bilingual kindergarten!

Kevin is keeping busy at work, and we are enjoying having him home with us, he has no trips planned for quite a while!

We planted 3 new trees on the hill, we will see how they do with this extreme heat. I need to water, water, water!
My gladiolus were so beautiful, but like so many things this time of year, they are beginning to bend, and slowly dry up.

Mayflies are everywhere down here by the river! They swarm towards the lights, and it is really bad! It looks like a snowstorm in August!

Frank is doing really well considering he lost his pack leader Brindle 2 weeks ago.

Brindle's last photo. Poor Brin, she was so old, one month short of 16 years!

We had a very nice summer, it went by so quick!
We had so much fun with family and friends.
And now we are looking forward to fall, cooler temperatures, windows open again, back to school, and more time with family and friends.

Summer Fun '13

Where does it go?

I wish I had blogged more, but I just didn't. No excuse except not wanting to. :-/

We have had a busy summer. In the past 2 months

Visited friends in Cedar Falls,
Went to Centerville for our niece's wedding (getting to see all of Kevin's brothers and sisters was so nice)
Had company from Missouri, Stephanie, Ethan, and Lucas.
Went to Chicagoland, and went to Six Flags with Kristopher, Melinda, and Allison.
Went to spend the day with my mom for her 85th birthday,
Went to baseball games of our 4 great nieces and nephews who live here in town,
Bbq'ed with family,
Went to watch Logan run, bike, and swim in a triathlon,
Bought a new truck for Kevin!

So, we have been keeping busy with all the extra things like traveling and company besides work, house, pets, contractors - working on yard, installing water softener, putting in new outlets, dentist and drs. appointments, looking for work, etc.

July is almost over, where has all the time gone?

Chippewa Valley Century Ride '13

Our 5th trip to Chippewa Falls, WI.
My second organized ride!

39.3 miles!
(This is Allison's bike computer,  she rode extra to make it to 40. Then rolled it to the car. I got to 39.3 and was so glad to be finished!  Around 32 I thought I wasn't going to be able to finish.  I did. I'm tired!

There were 7 of us riding this year.
Kris & Melinda
Allison and her boyfriend Juan
Logan - our nephew
and me :-)

Photos to come soon!

Photo From Kimmie

Kim took this photo of me while we were over there on Mother's Day. It was such a beautiful, fun day. I can't believe this was the only photo of the day. :-(

Baby geese everywhere!

Mother's Day

A wonderful weekend.

Kris and Melinda came over, we spent Saturday visiting and discovering a new bakery, eating pizza, and visiting some more.

A fun day!

Sunday we all went to see Grandma.

We went to lunch with her and my sister, brother-in-law and nephew.

Then, my favorite part of the day, was sitting in the warm sun on Kimmies patio.
Visiting, laughing, and soaking in each others company.

A great weekend!

A Weekend in Nebraska

Westward Ho!

Allison, Kris, Melinda, Kevin and I headed from our different homes to converge upon the sprawling city of Omaha this past weekend.

Allison had found us a charity bicycle ride to ride in.

We had a great Saturday morning riding. Allison and I went 22 miles and the others went 45! No way was I ready for that, and Allison was kind enough to keep her old mom company.

After the ride, we headed for the Henry Dorley Zoo. What a fun time we had walking around for 3 hours.

Can you believe we were all exhausted by the time we got to Allison's little town?

We went to a pupuseria and ate tacos and pupusas. Yummy!!!

I was falling asleep in the chair as we sat around vegging that night.

Needless to say, and yet I am saying it, I was tired and sore for a couple of days. I hadn't even gone a mile on a bike since last summer!
