Frank

Frank, still the traveler. His latest travels have taken him on a 3 week journey to Nebraska to be with Allison, followed by a quick 18 hours of driving in a 48 hour time frame. What a trooper! He's such a good puppy!

Same bag in both pictures.

Year of the house . Again!

**UPDATE...
Margo was right, it did look like we were trying to sell the house.  It sold in only 4 days!

God is GOOD!

          ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It all began 10 years after moving into our home, a new roof, a new ac/furnace, new flooring downstairs, remodeled downstairs bathroom, new windows and doors.

Now, 2 years later, we finally put in new carpeting upstairs, and painted up there as well. All that is left to do now is the kitchen and the bathroom upstairs, and a little popcorn ceiling repair (why they put that in a house I'll never understand) and a little siding repair.

Kevin asked me the other day if I still like home improvement projects. I guess I do, but I'm not quite as enthusiastic as I was 2 years ago.

Sorry about the picture quality, but here are a few of the updates...

Sisters

Warm, late summer has now turned into cool fall. Leaves are changing and falling and the colors are amazing!

I went to Illinois this past Thursday and got to spend some time with my mom, and both sisters. Margo had driven up from Georgia!

We enjoyed staying up late talking, shopping, and eating out. We finished our weekend together on a scenic drive to Galena for a delicious lunch and yet more shopping.

I had such a fun weekend! It was great seeing everyone!

It's Falling

We have had a busy fall so far.
We've gotten to visit with Allison, Lin and Chris, Travis, Kim, Kenny, Margo and Mom.
We have been doing some more home improvement projects, painting and new carpet.
Fall is falling, and we are enjoying this wonderful time of the year!

Summer's End

Mom has come and gone, we played games, went to hear music in the park, ate out, watched the olympics, shopped, and enjoyed visiting.

Another school year has begun, and I'm still trying to get back into the swing of schedules and organizing.

My garden is producing less and that's okay. I've had hundreds of tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash.

We all got together to go to the fair, and had fun laughing, and visiting our way strolling through 4H exhibits, the goat barn and the butter cow display.

The extreme heat wave is finally over.

Summer is wrapping up, and it's been a full, fun, family filled one.

Black/Brown Belts!

This past weekend, Kevin, Allison and I earned our Black/Brown belts in Ikea furniture assembly!
Allison has set up house in Nebraska and is ready to begin her new life teaching!

Kevin and I had a great time (if you can actually have a great time moving)  helping her move, and will miss her so much, but we already are planning to visit her!

Returning an empty truck! It had been pretty full (only single layer)

It is dry in Nebraska!

*Allison's duplex is a new build and we moved in as the workers were installing towel bars, door handles, etc. So she is enjoying the newness of everything, and yet not enjoying the little things that aren't quite finished yet, like no connectors installed for the Internet, her range hood still sitting in the garage, etc.

I'm Cooking Now!

The title says it all, I've been busy this morning!

We got home from Illinois yesterday, and I went to look at my garden. (a friend had watered for me while we were gone)

I harvested 1 squash, a huge handful of peas, 16 hot red peppers, 13 tomatoes, 12 cucumbers, and 8 onions. I added all of this to my already full vegetable drawers.

Today I made a large pot of spaghetti sauce and another large batch of spicy cooked veggies. (something like rotel tomatoes.)

All together today I have used:

all of my tomatoes, (forgot to count, and I kept adding, and kept adding. maybe 20?)
6 hot peppers
6 squash
5 onions
1 pound of spinach (not from my garden, but still organic, and do you know how much spinach there is in a pound? 16 oz! That's a lot of spinach!)

Chocopalooza

While in Illinois, Grandma, Kimmie, Allison and I attended and participated in the local library's Chocopalooza Night. I think 17 ladies brought in their favorite chocolate entry, and we all tried each other's and enjoyed an evening of chocolate and visiting.

As the event drew to an end, we all voted, and I was totally surprised when my chocolate cake balls were announced as the winning entry! (now I can tell people my cake balls are "award winning"!)

What a fun evening!
The Prize ~ A basket filled with chocolate treats!

Yummy chocolate fountain.

I love how the chocolate fountain mimics the fountain outside!

Wonderful music was played the entire evening!

Thanks Library Staff for a fun time!
