Chippewa Valley Century Ride '13

Our 5th trip to Chippewa Falls, WI.
My second organized ride!

39.3 miles!
(This is Allison's bike computer,  she rode extra to make it to 40. Then rolled it to the car. I got to 39.3 and was so glad to be finished!  Around 32 I thought I wasn't going to be able to finish.  I did. I'm tired!

There were 7 of us riding this year.
Kevin
Kris & Melinda
Allison and her boyfriend Juan
Logan - our nephew
and me :-)

Photos to come soon!

Photo From Kimmie

Kim took this photo of me while we were over there on Mother's Day. It was such a beautiful, fun day. I can't believe this was the only photo of the day. :-(

Babies!

Baby geese everywhere!

Mother's Day

A wonderful weekend.

Kris and Melinda came over, we spent Saturday visiting and discovering a new bakery, eating pizza, and visiting some more.

A fun day!

Sunday we all went to see Grandma.

We went to lunch with her and my sister, brother-in-law and nephew.

Then, my favorite part of the day, was sitting in the warm sun on Kimmies patio.
Visiting, laughing, and soaking in each others company.

A great weekend!

A Weekend in Nebraska

Westward Ho!

Allison, Kris, Melinda, Kevin and I headed from our different homes to converge upon the sprawling city of Omaha this past weekend.

Allison had found us a charity bicycle ride to ride in.

We had a great Saturday morning riding. Allison and I went 22 miles and the others went 45! No way was I ready for that, and Allison was kind enough to keep her old mom company.

After the ride, we headed for the Henry Dorley Zoo. What a fun time we had walking around for 3 hours.

Can you believe we were all exhausted by the time we got to Allison's little town?

We went to a pupuseria and ate tacos and pupusas. Yummy!!!

I was falling asleep in the chair as we sat around vegging that night.

Needless to say, and yet I am saying it, I was tired and sore for a couple of days. I hadn't even gone a mile on a bike since last summer!

Easter 2013

Easter...

Family gathering in the kitchen to laugh, eat, drink, and play.

Going to our favorite restaurants.

Shopping.

Candy.

Eggs.

(me, waking sick Sunday morning, everyone going to church while I'm throwing up, and sleeping the day away. leave, go out to lunch, don't cook, the smell would make me sick all over again. i called from my bed. bye. don't get sick. it was fun... until today.)

Spring on a River Town

Most of the eagles have flown away to their summer home, and the ice has all melted into the bubbly waters of the Mighty Miss. Each day, more and more tourists walk down the main road stopping in the little shops. If you look closely, the trees have a greenish hue to them, and there are robins on the now bare lawns.

Spring is here!

I've sort of gotten a new job since moving here, I am subbing in the local school district. I've only done it a half dozen times so far, but I am praying it will lead to a full time position next year.

March was a different month. Kevin traveled a lot, heading to Germany, France, and China. I'm so happy he is finally home for awhile! Spring break happened while he was gone, so I didn't even have an opportunity to work for a whole week. It was a long week! Allison got to come home for a long weekend, and it was so great to see her!

But now, it's April. The sun is shining a little higher in the sky, and a little longer in the evening. The temperatures aren't quite up to normal yet, but the ground is almost ready to plant a few early plants. I've got a bag of onion sets  in the garage, and I may get them started today!

Hello Spring?

Since my last post,  we've had about 10 inches of snow from two separate storms. We've lost power and were so happy to discover that our gas fireplace still works (and keeps the house livable) without electricity!

March is here, and so is another storm. The forecast is still pretty indecisive,  but beginning tonight, into Tuesday,  we could get 4-10 inches. Of course I am praying for the low totals!

Allison has a 4 day weekend and plans on driving home Wednesday night. I can't wait to see her,  that snow just has to be off the roads by then!

Hello... Spring?

Before the Storm

Currently it is 25 degrees and overcast.  But in the next couple of hours the snow will begin to fall, I can see it on the radar. We are expecting to get 4 to 6 inches by tomorrow.

Ive got a pot of great northern beans cooking and the snow blower is ready to go.

Hello winter.
